Bangan, located in the western part of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand, is known for its distinctive language, culture and fascinating history. The Bangani language attracted international attention after German linguist Dr. Claus Peter Zoller studied the region and suggested that some Bangani words and phonetic features may preserve characteristics associated with the ancient Centum branch of Indo-European languages, including Greek and Latin.
