From Uttarakhand to Himachal and Kashmir, cloudbursts, glacier bursts, and flash floods are turning entire villages into debris. Punjab is flooded, hundreds have died, and thousands lost their homes. Scientists from Aryabhatta Research Institute (ARIES, Nainital) confirm that carbon dioxide and methane are rising dangerously in Himalayan air. This traps heat, melting glaciers rapidly. The Dharali village tragedy in Uttarkashi is proof—where a sudden glacier burst destroyed the town. In Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi, even dried rivers and streams are flowing again, showing that nature’s balance is collapsing. Forest fires, stubble burning, and pollution are worsening the crisis. In December 2024, scientists from Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology discovered a 48 sq km glacier moving at 163 meters per year—a rare and alarming event in Central Himalaya. If it advances further, it may trigger a disaster bigger than the Reni tragedy. ️ The Himalayan snowline has shifted 50 meters back. Places that once had snowfall all year now get rain. Experts warn: if this continues, India will face even deadlier natural disasters.

Global Warming is hitting the Himalayas hard.
